CONFLICT OF INTEREST Bills 264 and 265
Dear Chairman James Arakaki and Councilmembers:
Two Bills will be introduced by Councilmember Julie Jacobson; on the
agenda for the Finance Committee on Tuesday, July 25th (10:30Af:`,). These
are both Conflict of Interest Bills, Bill 264 and Bill 265, and I would ask you
to support both these Bills.
Bill 264 would make the playing field more level for all. Ii c c, id make
developers choose between giving the large donations to a majorrty
councilmembers and thus face not having a quorum to move their r ^ct
forward, OR, behaving like the rest of us and limiting their contr t•• eons to
less than $100 to each member.
Bill 265 would prevent the kinds of conflicts arising when
Councilmembers or the Mayor have business interests which are sisni; icantly
• connected to County endeavors or projects.
It is important that our Council not only plays fair, but is c'
reproach in these matters, and these Bills would help each one of o
prove your integrity in the face of criticism.
•
Please support Bills 264 and 265.
Yours sincerely,
Kenneth Sheppard
