Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 243, reports as follows:
Bill No. 243, transmitted via Communication No. 798 from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated
April 21, 2010, presents a Request for Change of District Classification by Wailani Development, LLC, at
Ponahawai, South Hilo, Hawaii, TMK:2 -3- 044:019, 2 -3- 049:053 and 2 -3- 037:001.
Bill No. 243 seeks to amend Section 25 -8 -33 (City of Hilo Zone Map), Article 8, Chapter 25 (Zoning
Code) of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2005 Edition), by changing the District Classification from
Agriculture 1 -Acre (A-1 a), Neighborhood Commercial — 40,000 Square Foot (CN -40), Single- Family
Residential — 7,500 Square Foot and 10,000 Square Foot (RS -7.5 and RS -10) and Open (0) to Project
District.
There was no public testimony. Applicants were represented at the meeting by Mr. Sidney Fuke.
Having shared their thoughts regarding the proposed development during the previous discussion portion
for Bill 242, there was no further discussion from your Committee members.
Your Committee concurs with the Windward Planning Commission and the Planning Director's favorable
recommendation for approval of the Change of District Classification request.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 243 and recommends it
pass first reading.
