RESOLUTION NO. 345 10
STATE OF HAWAII
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY OF HAWAII TO
ENTER INTO A MULTI -YEAR CONTRACT WITH HAWAIIAN TELCOM
FOR WIRELESS E911 SERVICE FOR THE HAWAI'I POLICE
DEPARTMENT AND HAWAI I FIRE DEPARTMENT.
WHEREAS, Section 10 -11 of the Hawai`i County Charter requires that any contract,
lease or other obligation requiring payment of funds from the appropriations of a later fiscal year
or more than one fiscal year be approved by resolution; and
WHEREAS, the County wishes to enter into a multi -year contract with Wireless E911
Service provider, Hawaiian Telcom, for the Hawaii Police Department and Hawai'i Fire
Department; and
WHEREAS, this service greatly assists the Hawai'i Police Department and Hawai'i Fire
Department in carrying out their duties and functions relating to law enforcement and public
safety; and
WHEREAS, the rates for Wireless E911 services are established by the Public Utilities
Commission, Tariff 20 requirements; and
WHEREAS, this multi -year contract is necessary for the Hawai'i Police Department and
Hawai' i Fire Department to provide optimal emergency response services to the people of the
County of Hawai'i at a fixed rate for this three (3) year period;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i
hereby authorizes the Mayor to enter into a multi -year contract with Hawaiian Telcom to provide
Wireless E91 1 sery ices for the Hawai'i Police Department and Hawai'i Fire Department.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to (1) the Honorable William P. Kenoi, Mayor of the County of Hawai`i; (2) Nancy
Crawford, Director of Finance; and (3) Harry S. Kubojiri, Chief — Hawaii Police Department.
