I am teaching school on Tuesday, and cannot attend the hearing for the proposed Resolution. I completely support the Resolution and its purpose to deny the application for the gas station at TMK 6- 5- 004:57. The gas station use is not compatible with: our town's current needs (we already have 4 gas stations with attached mini - marts) the location of the site at the scenic entrance to Waimea town the addition of a gas station in a town that is already requesting a by -pass road to divert traffic away from our town the unnecessary use of water for a car wash (we are frequently in a drought situation) the close proximity to churches the close proximity to a hospital emergency lane the traffic entrance and exit areas added to a narrow yet major road through town and the questionable environmental impact on streams nearby I hope you will consider our urgent need to have this proposal completely and finally stopped as soon as possible. Further acceptance of this plan, especially if modified or permitted with special restrictions imposed, will possibly lead to a poorly designed, hastily built gas station, one built just to meet use and design requirements, and not in keeping with the needs of the community. There is more to Waimea town and its people than this gas station proposal will ever fully understand. We are usually a welcoming and supportive community, happy to absorb new people into our wonderful community of businesses, associations and friendships. I don't think that Waimea can willingly accept this poorly conceived plan into the heart of our town. Sincerely, Pamela Cushnie PO.Box 1632 Kamuela, Hi 885 -3521 © 2000 Microsoft Corporation.
