Unfortunately, my work situation will not allow me to be present at the meeting on Thursday. I am sending you this E -mail as a "testimonial" so that you can understand my objections. I was very shocked when I first learned about the proposed gas station last May. I decided to find out how other people felt about the issue. Consequently, I conducted a mini "survey" of the individuals I met in the check -out line at the supermarket, at restaurants, at my place of employment, and my friends. I can honestly say that after discussing this issue with dozens of individuals, I have yet to meet a person who is not adamantly opposed to it. Some people even used the words "sacrilege" or "desecration" to describe to proposed convenience store./ gas station/ car wash. As an elected official, I'm sure that you realize we live in a day and age when a 55% majority is considered a landslide. But the public opinion really, truly is 100% against this proposal and 100% in favor of preserving the spirit of church row. I want to thank you for bringing this resolution before the council.
