Dear Mr. Elarinoff,
I am writing to express my feelings concerning the proposed
gas /convenient store by Church Row.
When my husband and I moved to Waimea over 15 years ago, we did so
because of it's beauty and because we wanted our 2 small children to
grow up in a rural and nurturing community. I have never regretted our
move and have founded life long friendships in the process of living in
• Waimea these many years.
I have been very proud of our little town, even though it has suffered
some growing pains over the last 6 -7 years. Most of the development has
been within the architectural uniqueness that is so recognizable as
"Waimea ".
It saddens me to no end to think that someone is proposing to build a
gas station on one of the most beautiful sites of our community. I am
not against development, as long as it meets with the needs of a
community and is esthetically appropriate . Having a business
establishment of this nature next to our historic churches , our
hospital, and our observatory headquarters is simply an outrage. If
they want to build yet another gas station, please do so elsewhere.
The traffic that it will create will congest our only road in and out of
town, create a very hazardous road in and out of the hospital for
emergency vehicles and just plan cause an eye sore to our town.
Please; I beseige you to recommend that this permit not be granted so we
all can enjoy the beauty of our home town.
