We were the first people who offered to buy the lot from the present owners, but found negotiations too difficult to pursue. We made our offer because the proposed use is so transparently inappropriate. The site should be used in a manner that complements its surroundings. The people of the community have put generations of love and caring into Church Row, and the Keck Building is a source of pride to all who value scientific advancement and thoughtful architecture. To separate two such special places with the proposed gas station would be crass and demeaning, and it is a terrible shame that the present owners do not have enough respect for the community to abandon their plans voluntarily. I hope that all council members are well aquainted with the site, in which case I cannot imagine that the resolution will not pass.
