RE: FORMATION OF AN AD HOC COMMITTEE WITH REGARDS TO THE LOWEST
LAW ENFORCEMENT OF CANNABIS ORDINANCE
Dear Chairman Yagong and Members of the CPS &P &R,
I'm submitting this testimony in regard to the aforementioned intent of the
County Council.
This particular Ordinance flies in the face of both Federal and State Law and
basically has no legitimate enforceability.
I believe that the Police and the County Council have a sworn duty to uphold the
laws of the State of Hawaii and the United States and that this Ordinance does
not and should not be interpreted as precluding the authorized and legitimate
exercise of the duty to enforce existing marijuana laws.
I would hope that the Council, in its collective wisdom, realizes that this
Ordinance is both ill conceived and illegal and that you have a constitutional
responsibility to mitigate whatever effects that this Ordinance may have or cause.
