I am a resident of Waimea, a registered nurse at the hospital, a very active parent at Waimea School, an active community member ,and a mother of three young children. My husband and I moved to Kamuela because of the tranquil community. We both thought it would be a great place to raise our children. We have found Waimea to be a wonderful place. However the town does need more parks and activities for the youth and the elderly. The last thing this town needs is a gas station right in the middle of our beautiful church row. The traffic in Waimea is congested already. Traffic collisions happen frequently. We do not need more congestion in the middle of our town. This gas station will increase the traffic in this area and could cause tragedy for the families that live here. I strongly encourage the Council to adopt the Resolution. The Planning Director should deny the application. We want to keep Waimea a safe and beautiful community.
