COMMITTEE ON FINANCE
Re: Comm. No. 660 /Bill No. 190
Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 190, reports as follows:
Bill No. 190, transmitted by Finance Director Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 660, dated
December 16, 2009, amends Ordinance No. 09 -64, as amended, the Operating Budget, ending June
30, 2010. The amendment is as follows:

The State of Hawai`i Department of Health is providing additional funds, derived from the U.S.
Administration of Aging, to the Hawaii County's Office of Aging for their Chronic Disease Self
Management Program. These funds will be used to continue the implementation of the CDSMP,
which is an evidence -based prevention program.
Pursuant to Section 46 -7, Hawai`i Revised Statutes, and Section 13- 13(b), Hawai`i County
Charter, the Mayor is hereby authorized to apply for, receive and expend the funds for the Chronic
Disease Self Management Program.
Program Specialist Pauline Fukunaga from the Office of Aging was present to answer any
questions and spoke briefly in support of the measure.
