SUBJECT: Ordinance to Initiate a Charter Amendment to Article X of the Haw CSQnty Charter
(2000), Establishing a Public Access, Open Space, and Natural Resources Preservation
Fund
Attached is a bill for an ordinance to initiate a charter amendment to Article X of the
Hawaii County Charter (2000), establishing a public access, open space, and natural resources
preservation fund.
The bill includes a provision to place two percent of the certified real property tax
revenues collected each fiscal year in a conservative interest - bearing account. Funds in the
account would be available to acquire property pursuant to article 42 of the Hawaii County
Code.

Should this ordinance pass, the charter amendment shall be submitted to the electorate of
•Hawai'i County for approval at the 2010 general election.
Please refer the attached bill for an ordinance to the appropriate committee agenda for
June 22, 2010. .
