My Name is Evonne F. Bjornen. ! am a long time resident of Hilo, Hawaii, and the owner of
Bjornen's Mac. Nut Farm, in Hilc.
I am writing in total support, of the entire budget that Mayor Billy Kenoi has submitted. It is
time, for our Council to support our Mayor, and what he proposes as the best budget for our
Island.
Just a few of the things, this budget protects our Police and Fire Departments, our Civil
Defense Agency, Prosecutors Office, these are the core government services, and need to
be protected!! When the econo ny is the worst, these agencies are needed in full force!
How can you tell a Policeman, that works a night shift, makes an arrest, and has to go to
Court in the Day time, that he is not to get paid for this time?
This is a fair budget, that reduces the cost and size of government for the second year in a
row, while maintaining services :and programs that are so important to our Island Residents.
The administration was able to balance the budget with out selling land in a down market, or
raiding the employee retirement accounts.
I have gone over each of the amendments and do not support any of them! Let me once
more state, that I support the Mayor's budget proposal in full!!
