Dear Mayor Kenoi and City Council-
Would you please review my attached letter regarding Bill 211 which is placing an unfair tax
burden on vacation home owners.
I am very concerned this Bill will give no other option for me and other vacation home owners
but to foreclose. We owners have been struggling to hang on to our vacation homes, our dreams,
our second community- PLEASE we need the County to meet us half way to make this work.

RE: Bill 211 Draft 3
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing over concern of Bill 211 Draft 3 that is to be voted on June 7, 2010. I
have reviewed this Bill and I am greatly concerned on the effect it will have on me, a
vacation home owner, as well as other vacation home owners in the area. Please let
me detail out some points:
• Vacation home owners employ many local people on the island. By placing an
even greater tax burden on vacation home owners it is going to force more
vacation homes to be foreclosed on, which will further increase the
unemployment rate of the Big Island.
• Additional foreclosures will further reduce property values, prolonging the real
estate slump of the past few years and smothering future growth.
• With more and more vacation homes in foreclosure and the continued
perceived instability and increased costs of the area it will drive away future
tourism and possible investors. Now is the time to remain consistent so both
tourists and investors are reassured of the Big Island's grow and stability.
I urge the City Council to review this_Bill and really look at if it is in the long -term
best interest of Hawai'i.
