Hawaii County Council
Budget 2010/2011
This county has more than enough income with the current high property tax rate and
high property valuation.
No property tax rate increase is needed! What is needed, cut out irresponsible spending
in the county.
The public works department for example created a 5 million dollar Komohana Street
shoulder improvement project last year. Our county had to spend approximately
$lmillion, 20% is our share to get Federal money. ONE MILLION DOLLARS is a lot
of money for this county to waste. This project was not needed nor was asked for by the
residents.
Speed humps, anther example of wasteful spending by public works.
Tax money is not free money!
I feel that the public works department budget for this year should be reduced by $23
million.
