The Committee on Public Safety and Parks and Recreation, to which was referred Resolution
No. 340 -10, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 340 -10, transmitted by Council Member Kelly Greenwell, via Communication
No. 819, dated May 6, 2010, relating support of the organization "Law Enforcement Against
Prohibition" in its effort to address the illicit use of harmful drugs in the United States of
America. LEAP members are former members of law enforcement and criminal justice
communities that have joined together to end the "War on Drugs."
A major concern that was expressed by committee members was the fact that they did not want
to legalize all types of illegal drugs.
A motion to approve was made and seconded, followed by a vote by the Members in attendance.
The final vote, as reflected below, prompted your Committee to forward Resolution No. 340 -10
to the full Council with a negative recommendation.
