RE: Discussion and authorization for extension of special counsel
contract for worker's compensation cases
Pursuant to Section 92 -4, Hawaii Revised Statutes, as amended ( "HRS "), the
Office of the Corporation Counsel respectfully requests the Council convene an
executive meeting for the purpose of discussing and authorizing the extension of the
special counsel contract for worker's compensation cases.
An executive meeting is requested pursuant to HRS Section 92 -5(4), as we
anticipate discussion and questions pertaining to the Council's powers, duties,
privileges, immunities and liabilities. We expect to present to the Council information
concerning the cost savings to the County through the hiring of special counsel; this
information will necessarily contain details of specific cases not appropriate for public
dissemination.
