RE: Resolution regarding authorizing the payment of funds in future Fiscal Years to
cover a four -year contract for an independent auditor(s) to perform the annual audit of the
accounts and other evidences of financial transactions of the county and of every county
agency and executive agency.
Dear Chair Yoshimoto,
I would like to request that the above - referenced matter be waived from the Committee on
Finance to the full Council for immediate action. Section 3 — 18 of the Hawai`i County Charter
requires the Legislative Auditor to conduct or cause to be conducted the annual financial audit of
the County. The current contract for the annual audit is in its final year. The procurement for an
Independent Auditor to perform the required annual audit services covering the fiscal years
ending June 30, 2010 through June 30, 2013 is currently being conducted. In reviewing this
matter, I feel that timely approval is crucial and that it therefore would be advantageous if this
matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. Your favorable consideration oifthis
matter is greatly appreciated.

RE: Resolution No. 362 -10 : A Resolution Authorizing the Payment of Funds in Future Fiscal
Years on a Multi -Year Contract for an Independent Auditor(s) to Perform the Annual Audit of the
Accounts and Other Evidences of Financial Transactions of the County and of Every County Agency
and Executive Agency.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above - referenced matter be
waived from the Finance Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing this
matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and the
matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request is
denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Finance Committee
for placement on its future agenda.
