The condo I own is used as a vacation rental. Because it is rented I remit to the state the excise tax and TAT tax of which the county gets a share of. As a vacation rental owner we also pay our taxes. Please show me what we get our our money to bring in more visitors whose dollars we need. Downtown Kailua is a shame: for lease signs everwhere, litter everywhere and signs which are against the county code everywhere((never enforced). And yet you want to increase my taxes: Im getting nothing now. Since you are asking more from me what are you giving in return? You are saying:Lets tax the non residents more how is that fair and equal? Am I going to get better services than a local? In my condo association totaling 12 units 3 are in forclosure all 3 belong to local residents. Tte other nine must pay extra maintaince fees to keep the building going. If non resident owners left the county wouldnt be able to exist. Maybe we are the ones who need a tax break? Lets cut county jobs, job benefits, back track on pay increases for police and firemen, and freeze all hiring and pay. In addition lets take another day or two off per month without pay. Run the county like a business, I have yet to hear anyone say: Lets live with what we have. Families cut back when the hrs or pay is reduced. The county should be no different comm. El 7 Ref. To: !
