Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and members of the Hawaii County Council,
1 am writing this letter to urge you to defer the proposed real property tax rate increases
for Hawaii County. The Hawaii County visitor industry, as you know, is endw'1ng
extremely difficult economic challenges and a tax increase at this time will have
dangerous financial implications.
We do not foresee any immediate financial improvement, especially on the Big Island,
and all of our companies have already gone through a large downsizing in 2009, these tax
increases would have a devastating impact on our continued hotel and golf operations,
which employ over 650 local residents, Therefore, we urge you to not increase the real
property tax rates during this time of depression in the Hawaii County visitor industry.
Sincerely,
ceek.
