Subject: Property Tax Rates
Dear Sir, Madams:
I am firmly opposed to any increase in the property tax rates in the county of Hawaii. We already pay some of the
highest rates in the state. Raising the rates could have a negative impact on the influx of outside investments to
our island, which has benefitted the community in many ways. It will also have a negative impact on the working
class people of the island, the burden will also fall on the renters and younger homeowners who can barely afford
to survive as things are.
Instead, I urge the council and Mayor to look within our bloated county government, and pare back the spending.
Take a look at the size of government 10 years ago, and note how many new government positions were created
since the dramatic increase in property values (and revenues) that has been realized from West Hawaii. Think
about how we would have managed without the extra slush, and structure the spending within the existing means.
We the people are tired of being squeezed for every last drop.
