I am testifying to support Mayor Kenoi's budget because it keeps the County buses free
of charge so people can get around the island for their jobs and schools.
Our organization provides transportation for our Huiana Internship Program students.
These students get school credit, career exploration, mentorship and valuable work
experience. We serve 140 participants per year. Free public transit allows these students
to get to their sites to get this valuable experience that has positive effects on their
education, self - esteem and work future.
As a mother of a child with an immune deficiency, I am also supporting the maintenance
of our public safety. They have responded to many emergencies at my home efficiently,
helping to save the life of my son.
This is a fair budget and maintains the services and programs.
