ORDINANCE NO.
AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAI`I COUNTY CODE 1983
(2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAI`I:
SECTION 1. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24 -257, schedule 5 (35 mile per
hour limit), subsection (c) Hilo, item (27), of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as
amended), is amended to read as follows:
(27) Puainako Street [Extension, from five hundred eighty four feet cast
of Wilder Road to western terminus.] , westbound lane, from a
point four hundred fifty feet west of Kaumana Drive to its western
terminus and eastbound lane, from a point 3.57 miles east of
Wilder Road to Komohana Street.
SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24 -259, schedule 7 (40 mile per
hour limit), subsection (c) Hilo, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), is
amended by adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
( ) Puainako Street, westbound lane, from a point 3.30 miles west of
Komohana Street to a point four hundred fifty feet west of
Kaumana Drive and eastbound lane from its western terminus to a
point 0.46 mile east of Wilder Road.
SECTION 3. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24 -260, schedule 8 (45 mile per
hour limit), subsection (c) Hilo, item (3), of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as
amended), is amended to read as follows:
(3) Puainako Street [Extension, from Komohana Street to a point five
... . - _ .. - - ast of Wilder Road.] , eastbound lane,
from a point 3.44 miles east of Wilder Road to a point seven
hundred feet in the easterly direction.
SECTION 4. Chapter 24, article 10, division 1, section 24 -263, schedule 11 (55 mile per
hour limit), subsection (c) Hilo, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), is
amended by adding the following to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows:
( ) Puainako Street, westbound lane, from Komohana Street to a point
3.30 miles in the westerly direction and eastbound lane, from a
point 0.46 miles east of Wilder Road to a point 2.98 miles in the
easterly direction.
SECTION 5. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is
underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and stricken material
and underscoring need not be included.
SECTION 6. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person
or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications
of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to
this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable.
SECTION 7. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
