Subject: Presentation by Dr. William Walsh re: Coral Reef Sedimentation
I would like to request a 30 minute presentation by Dr. William Walsh in regard to Coral Reef
Sedimentation and its impact on our food resources. Dr. Walsh is only available on July 20,
2010. Please schedule this presentation for July 20, 2010 in the Food and Energy Sustainability
Committee.
Hawai`i Island currently has one of the most pristine reef ecosystems among the inhabited
islands. If Hawai`i is to retain its status as a premier destination for visitors and a notable
example of well managed near shore eco- systems both land use practices and resource
management issues must be addressed.
