Re: Operating Budget
The State of Hawai`i Department of the Attorney General's Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division has authorized a $40,110 Cell Phone /PDA Violence Grant to the
Hawaii Police Department. The grant's purpose is to improve Hawai'i Police
Department's ability to respond to crimes against women perpetrated through
wireless /electronic communication devices.
Enclosed is a resolution to authorize the Mayor to enter into an agreement with the State
of Hawaii Department of the Attorney General for this grant.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
this $40,110 Cell Phone /PDA Violence Grant.

To appropriate $40,110.00 for the CeII Phone /PDA Violence Grant under account number 010.201.5216.24.454
and revenue account 3308.04.
To enter into a contract with the State Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice
Assistance Division under the CeII Phone /PDA Violence Grant.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The State Department of the Attorney General Crime Prevention and Justice Assistance Division is providing
a grant to improve Hawaii County's ability to respond to crimes against women perpetrated through
wireless /electronic communication devices. Equipment will be updated or purchased to further enhance the
retrieval of digital evidence for crimes involving Domestic Violence, Sexual Assaults, dating violence and /or
stalking.
