July 1, 2010 Chief Harry Kubojiri HAWAII COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT 349 Kapiolani St. Hilo, HI 96720 RE: IRONMAN FOUNDATION - DONATION OF BIKES Aloha Chief Kubojiri - On behalf of the Ironman Foundation I am honored to present 8 Police Bicycle Packages for use by the Hawaii County Police Department in providing additional mobility in and around the downtown Kailua- Kona area. Many law enforcement jurisdictions successfully operate "bicycle patrols" with overwhelming community support and proven effectiveness through higher visibility in downtown areas. This program provides a positive public appearance by law enforcement personnel and a sign that the department is making an effort to "go green." The estimated value of the complete bike package donation is $ 10,000.00. Ironman continues to remain a diligent supporter of our island's public safety mission and is proud to once again be able to give back to the community with this donation.
