These bicycles will be utilized in and around the downtown Kailua -Kona area to provide additional mobility for our officers. Many law enforcement jurisdictions successfully operate "bicycle patrols" with overwhelming community support and proven effectiveness through higher visibility in downtown areas. This program provides a positive public appearance by law enforcement personnel and a sign that the department is making an effort to "go green." The estimated value of the complete bike package donation is $ 10,000.00. Ironman continues to remain a diligent supporter of our island's public safety mission and is proud to once again be able to give back to the community with this donation.
