Furthermore there is a lot of miss information being spread around about what we do and how we do it,
most all is hearsay! We know how fast lies and miss information can spread threw out a small
community such as we have.
A few are as follows:
It is said that we are threatening a $800,000,000.00 dive industry with the collection of reef fish, when in
fact there is over 30% of West Hawaii closed to collecting which is miles of area all along the coastline
were you can see all the fish you can possible imagine . But the dive operators are more concerned with
fuel cost the then there customers; I know this to be a fact because I am also a certified boat captain
and I have captain several dive boats on the west side.
That only a small percentage of fish exported survive, this is truly a false statement made by people that
have no evidence. If this was true, how could we make a profit or even stay in business. There are
instances when a diver or a wholesaler will have dead loses but it's not as frequent as the rumors would
have you believe.
That we under report or don't report are fish catches, when in fact DAR has two different report that
are mandatory, one from the divers and the other from the wholesalers. They have the ability to cross
reference the reports to find anything fraudulent yet they have no substantiating proof.
It is so easy people to make accusations without proof or merit, yet people listen and spread what they
hear as GOD's truth and sadly they believe it to be so.
I ask one thing of you, when you the listen to the testimonies please look for the facts that havejnerit
and proof, not just the emotional please, this is a fishery that brings in a good amount of monewtor
Hawaii and with the way the world economy is today I don't think it wise to take away Ws, fro hon.s
working people.
