Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 612, reports as follows:
Communication No. 612, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated January 5, 2000,
nominates Mr. Rodney H. Watanabe to serve on the Hawaii County Salary Commission.
Mr. Watanabe of Kona presently serves as Senior Vice President of the Hawaii Community
Federal Credit Union. He is also involved with the Boy Scouts of America, the Exchange Club
of Kona, and the Kauhale Po`ohala Group. Of no political affiliation, Mr. Watanabe will serve a
term to end December 31, 2002.
Pursuant to Section 13-28, Hawaii County Charter, the salary commission shall consist of nine
members appointed by the mayor with the approval of the council.
Mr. Yagong excused himself from voting on this nomination as he is related to the nominee.
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Mr. Rodney Watanabe to the
Hawaii County Salary Commission.
