Re: Resolution Accepting Donation _...
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of $10,000 from Nixie, LLC., 3000
Atrium Way, Suite 102, Mt. Laurel, New Jersey 08054. The Hawaii Police Department
was one of three winning agencies that won the $10,000 by signing up the most
subscribers during a certain period of time. The funds will be used to upgrade the
department's website and make it ADA compliant. It will contain various departmental
forms for the public to use and contain critical information on public safety issues.
Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating
the funds into the Police Administrative Division's OCE account.

A. REQUEST:
To accept a donation of $10,000.00 from Nixle, LLC to upgrade the department's website under account
number 010 - 201 - 5203.02.115.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Nixie, Inc. is donating funds to be used to upgrade the department's website and make it ADA compliant.
The website will contain various departmental forms for the public to use and contain critical information on
public safety issues. These issues will allow the public to be aware of any potential dangers in the
community and to assist in such issues as missing persons.

Congratulations. The Hawaii Police Department is one of the three winning agencies
that have won a $10,000 grant for signing up the most new subscribers in the third
quarter of 2009.
The Hawaii Police Department may spend the Nixie grant money (check No. 11316
dated 4/19/2010) in any way that your agency sees fit as long as it is spent on public
safety issues that will benefit the community. You may use the money to upgrade
equipment, for crime prevention or for any other purpose that benefits community public
safety.
Keep up the good work and continue to grow your base and publish frequently. Also,
please spread the word about Nixie to your neighboring agencies that are not yet on
board.

RE: Resolution No. 384 -10 : A Resolution Authorizing the Acceptance of a Monetary
Donation of $10,000 to the Hawaii Police Department
Bill No. 289 : An Ordinance to Amend Ordinance No. 10 -59, as Amended, the
Operating Budget for the County of Hawaii for the Fiscal Year Ending
June 30, 2010.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above - referenced matter be
waived from the Finance Committee to the full Council for immediate action. In the event this
request is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Finance
Committee for placement on its future agenda.
