Your Committee on Finance, to which was refen~ed Resolution No. 204-2K, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 204-2K, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 627, dated January 14, 2000, authorizes the Director of Finance to negotiate a lease of real
property at Waimea Park in South Kohala to the Salvation Army for use as a skateboard park.
The County of Hawaii owns a parcel of land situated at Waimea Park identified as TMK: (3) 6-
5-07:24. The Salvation Army, a nonprofit corporation desires to establish a skateboard park
upon a portion of that property to be used for skateboard practices and competitions.
Pursuant to Section 2-120(a)(2), Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of Hawaii
may, by resolution approved by a majority of its members, direct the Director of Finance to
negotiate the lease of real property to nonprofit organizations, without notice or appraisal as
required in Chapter 2, Article l9, Hawai`i County Code.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 204-2K
and recommends its adoption.
