Re: Resolution for a multi -year lease _ -

Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the payment of funds for more than one fiscal year
for one hundred (100) mobile data terminals (MDT) for the Hawaii County Police
Department. The MDTs, to be placed in various officer's vehicles throughout the
County, will give the officers immediate access to the data base to check warrants,
TROs, and prior arrest information. Having immediate access to this type of information
will improve the safety to the patrolling officers. The MDTs will also save time for the
officers by allowing them to file reports when they are away from the station.
The Hawaii County Council had previously adopted Resolution No. 126 -09, which
authorized the lease of the initial batch of 100 MDTs that were installed into the police
vehicles. The enclosed resolution is for the lease of the second batch of 100 MDTs for
the Hawaii County Police Department. Funding for both of these multi -year leases are
included in the current fiscal year's Operating Budget.
