AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER 24 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (2005 EDITION, AS AMENDED), RELATING TO VEHICLES AND TRAFFIC. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII: SECTION 1. Purpose. The purpose of this amendment is to provide a parent pick- up/drop-off area for the students attending the adjacent Montessori School. Future school plans include an on -site pick -up /drop -off area. The on- street facility related to this code amendment will serve in the interim, until the permanent facility is completed. SECTION 2. Chapter 24, article 10, division 6, section 24- 288.1, schedule 36.1 (Active loading and unloading zones), paragraph (f), Kona, of the Hawai`i County Code 1983 (2005 Edition, as amended), is amended by adding the following, to be appropriately numbered and to read as follows: "( ) Manawale`a Street, south side, beginning from a point three hundred twelve feet west of Kealakaa Street and extending forty -eight feet in the westerly direction, for a period not to exceed fifteen minutes, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on school days." SECTION 3. Material to be repealed is bracketed and stricken. New material is underscored. In printing this ordinance, the brackets, bracketed material and stricken material and underscoring need not be included. SECTION 4. If any provision of this ordinance, or the application thereof to any person or circumstance, is held invalid, such invalidity shall not affect other provisions or applications of the ordinance which can be given effect without the invalid provision or application, and to this end, the provisions of this ordinance are declared to be severable. SECTION 5. This ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
