Subject: Resolution 321 -10
Honorable Council Members,
This letter is in support of Resolution 321 -10. I am pleased with the positive response
so far by most council members to passing this resolution.
Support of this resolution is truly a way of respecting all citizens of Hawai'i County.
Please notice that some of the subdivisions which suffer from bad roads, not supported by
our own County Government, also suffer from the resulting isolation and access to other
needs.
The result of this is keiki who can't get to educational activities, willing parents'who
can't juggle jobs and family without adequate transportation, and even life - threatening
possibilities because of the isolation and bad roads.
In my own community we have worked diligently for a long time through our Fern Acres Road
Maintenance Association to improve our roads.
This is funded directly by a mandatory road maintenance fee for every property owner in
the subdivision.
Please notice that these people are paying for a slow, laborious progression over decades
to improve the roads here while they are still paying taxes which the county collects and
then sends to other, perhaps wealthier, areas of the island.
We believe in respect here in Hawai'i. I encourage your yes vote as a mark of respect for
our island ohana.
