Hind III. I am a landowner at South Point. I am for the privatization of the Old Government Road in Kamoa. This is one example of many remnant roads in our Hawaii County that does not serve any public purpose as it basically goes nowhere and serves only a few landowners. There are miles and miles of these roads that are not maintained by the county for good reason as new highways and land ownership have made them unnecessary for public purpose. These roads, when accessible, are used for dumping grounds, "rager" parties, drug activity, poaching and crimes. For as long as my family has been here, over 60 years, this road has been secured by the adjoining landowners keeping these activities to a minimum. As a homeowner/ business owner/ taxpayer in this area of Kamoa, I would rather see the dollars generated by the privatization of this road used for the upgrade of other much needed services to this area, namely water and police. With all the economic challenges the county has at present, why should they take on more liability and cost for this road to nowhere. An inventory of all these remnant roads on our island should be made and determined if they still serve a public purpose. If not, they should be taken off the county's books by privatization when possible. Mahalo
