I would like to state for the record that I am in favor of the privatization of that portion
of Kamaoa Road known as Old Gov't Road.
I would like to address the issue raised by Ms. Teri Nguyen about access to Hawaiian
gravesites. There are known gravesites on Teri Nguyen's property and above on David
Rudicell's property. There are no known gravesites on the Kaniho property or on Kamaoa
Road itself. If there are people who want to access these graves, then they need to contact
either Ms. Nguyen or Mr. Rudacille directly for access onto their properties. It is not the
Kanihos responsibility to direct traffic onto private properties that are not their own.
Changing the road into a public road would only encourage tresspassing.
For this and other reasons, I strongly agree that this portion of Old Gov't Road should be
made private.
