RE: Support for Amendments to Puna Community Development Plan — :: 134
Dear Chair Yoshimoto, Councilmembers, Chair Ikeda and Members of the Committee on
Planning:
I have reviewed the proposed amendments to the Puna Community Development Plan
( "Puna CDP ") that are included in Bill 194 initiated by the County Council on December 18,
2009 and concur with the Planning Director's May 11, 2010 favorable recommendation to amend
the Puna CDP.
1 strongly support the proposed amendments to the Puna CDP contained 'Fill 194 and
concur with the Planning Director's favorable recommendation to amend the Puna _::D?, as those
amendments are consistent with the goals, objectives and policies of the General Pla .
As a statement of general policy, I beliel it is in the best it serest of all :, and
taxpayers to encourage and promote business and to empower individual_: and 1andew e,rs
wherever possible rather than to encourage the County government to ,eeeil e involved in
matters it is neither ecuipped nor ha:; the expertise to handle in an efficie_f :.anner.
Please forward Bill 194 to the Council with a recommendation that the t_ en ment in Bill
