Dear Chair Yoshimoto, Chair Ikeda, and Members of both the Hawaii County Council and the Committee on
Planning:
My name is Gregory Gauthier; I am a Business Agent with the ILWU Local 142, Hawaii Division here on the
Big Island.
• I am writing you on behalf of the ILWU Local 142, Hawaii Division. We have reviewed the proposed
amendments to the Puna Community Development Plan (Puna C.D.P.) that are included in Bill 194 initiated by
the County Council on December 18, 2009.
We strongly support the proposed amendments to the Puna C.D.P. contained in Bill 194, as those
amendments will allow market forces to determine the size of commercial development within a regional town
center.
