RE: LETTER OF SUPPORT FOR THE AMENDMENTS TO PUNA COMMUNITY
DEVELOPMENT PLAN ( "BILL 194'9
Dear Chair Yoshimoto, Councilmembers, Chair Ikeda and Members of the Committee on Planning:
I have reviewed the proposed amendments to the Puna Community Development Plan ( "Puna CDP)"
that are included in Bill 194 initiated by the County Council on December 18, 2009 and feel it is in the
best interest of the average person living and working in Puna to amend the Puna CDP.
I am a Ainaloa Subdivision homeowner who is fortunate enough to work in the Puna area. In the past
year my family has experienced work layoffs and work furloughs that have made a huge impact on our
family. I strongly believe there is a desperate need for planned growth in the area of Puna. We need
businesses in the Puna area instead of being forced to travel to Hilo to purchase affordable food and
products and find jobs.
