Mainstreet Pahoa Association is writing to express serious concerns regarding Bill 283 and the
suggestion that the Hawaii County Council and County Department of Public Works will allow for a
certificate of occupancy of Woodland Center prior to intersection improvements at the junction of Pahoa
Village Road and the Kea'au -Pahoa Road (Highway 130).
Mainstreet Pahoa Association notes that a petition is circulating around Puna, and to date that petition
that calls for the County not to allow occupancy of Woodland Center prior to intersection improvements
has a reported 1,000 -plus signatures.
We ask that council members, prior to taking any votes on Bill 283, hold a public hearing in Pahoa to
hear directly from the people of this area regarding Woodland Center and the suggestion of allowing
occupancy prior to intersection improvements.
