I am totally against allowing the new businesses in W6ddland Center to open without
drastic improvement to the traffic patterns. This area is unsafe at any speed, and
increasingly unsafe for pedestrians as well. A few of the problems are noted below:
PIS
- The recent striping has served to greatly enhance confusion at the intersections which
will yield many more potentially fatal accidents.
- Lack of guard rail between Pahoa Village Road and Longs drop -off
- Left turn lane into Market Place is narrow and too short to allow cars to get out of the
through lane.
- Nearly impossible to make the left in Market Place and not encroach on either the lane
coming in from 130 or the left turn coming out of Market Place
- Radius of turn into Kahakai not sufficient for delivery trucks
- Unsafe driving at that area will have the undesirable affect of more people using the
Post Office road as their entry into Pahoa. That road is inadequate to handle the traffic
has, let alone additional! Won't Christmas be fun at the Post Office?
