Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Communication No. 668, reports as follows:
Communication No. 668, transmitted by Mayor Stephen K. Yamashiro, dated February 16, 2000,
nominates Mr. Horace S. Hara of Council District 4 to serve on the Haw~i`i County Police
Commission.
A lifetime resident of Hawaii, Mr. Haza has been with the State of Hawaii, Department of
Education since 1967, and presently works in the Hawaii District Office,as the School Renewal
Specialist. He is also active with the Hawaii Government Employees Association. A member
of the Democratic Party, he will serve a term to end December 31, 2004.
Pursuant to Section 7-2.2, Hawaii County Charter, "the Police Commission shall consist of
seven members...appointed by the mayor and confirmed by the council in the manner prescribed
in Section 13-4."
Your Committee on Finance recommends the confirmation of Mr. Horace S. Haza to the Hawaii
County Police Commission.
