Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Bill No. 310, reports as follows:
Bill No. 310, transmitted by Director of Finance Nancy Crawford, via Communication No. 968,
dated October 6, 2010, amends Ordinance No. 10-59, as amended, the Operating Budget for the
County of Hawai`i of the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011. The amendment is as follows:

Sgt. Regino Saludares said the Hawai`i Police Department has applied for accreditation with the
Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) and the officers need to
be trained in accordance with the nationwide standards set forth by CALEA. The $147,457 grant
will be used to implement an intranet training module which will be capable of training officers in
many required subjects, and will involve testing, re-testing, storing training information, and
tracking the training received by officers. The funds provided by the State of Hawai`i Department
of the Attorney General are derived from grants provided by the federal government.
