The Hawai'i State Coalition Against Domestic Violence ( HSCADV), a private, not - for - profit
organization, is a statewide coalition of domestic violence programs and their mission is to
ensure the safety and protection of women in intimate relationships by coordinating
domestic violence prevention and intervention services, affecting public policy, and
establishing coordinated and consistent procedures and actions by the civil and criminal
justice systems in Hawaii. The Office of the Prosecuting Attorney has been approved to
receive a total of $50,000 from the HSCADV to implement the "Navigating a Course for
Peace, Domestic Violence Strategic Plan for 2007 — 2010" in Hawai'i County. In the
current fiscal year's budget, only $40,000 was appropriated in anticipation of this Domestic
Violence Strategic Plan (DVSP) project grant. The additional grant monies will be used for
activities in West Hawai'i.
Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget and increasing the
Domestic Violence Strategic Plan grant account by $10,000.

Requesting an increase in appropriation from $40,000 to $50,000 for the Domestic Violence Strategic Plan
(DVSP) project.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The Prosecuting Attorney's Office has been approved to receive a total of $50,000 from the Hawaii State
Coalition Against Domestic Violence to implement the "Navigating a Course for Peace, Domestic Violence
Strategic Plan for 2007 - 2012" in Hawaii County. $40,000 is already budgeted. The additional $10,000 will
be for activities in West Hawai'i.
