Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Bill No. 307 reports as follows:
Bill No. 307,transmitted via Communication No. 965 from Mayor William P. Kenoi, dated
September 27, 2010, presents a proposed amendment to Chapter 25, Hawai`i County Code 1983
(2005 Edition, as amended) relating to the processing time for a Use Permit application.
Bill No. 307 seeks to increase the time period by which a public hearing before the Planning
Commissions shall be conducted for a Use Permit application, from its current 60 days to 90 days.
One member of the public spoke in support of Bill No. 307. No one from the Planning Department
was present at the meeting. Members of your Committee spoke in support of the measure.
Your Committee concurs with the Leeward Planning Commission and Windward Planning
Commission and the Planning Director's favorable recommendations for approval of the amendment
request.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Bill No. 307, and
recommends it pass first reading.
