Fax (808) 326 -5663, October 22, 2010 Council Chairman J Yoshimoto and Members of the County Council County of Hawai'i Hilo, HI 96720 - Dear Chairman Yoshimoto and Council Members: It is my pleasure to nominate the following individuals to the County of Hawai'i Fire Commission: Council District 2 — James "Kimo" Lee is a 46 -year resident of Hawai'i. Since 2006, he has been employed by WH Shipman, Ltd. as the Director of Development. Mr. Lee presently serves on the State of Hawai'i Burial Council, and the County of Hawai'i Workforce Investment Board. He is a committee member of Hospice of Hawai'i and the Catholic Church's Land Asset Committee. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2011. Council District 4 — M. Luahiwa Namahoe is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. Since 2009, she has been employed by Pro Service Hawai'i as their Business Development Manager. From 1996 to 2008 she was employed by Aha Punana Leo as a Communications Coordinator. Ms. Namahoe is the secretary of the Keaukaha - Panaewa Farmers Association and sits on the advisory board of Malamalama Waldorf School. She states that she is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2013. Council District 5 — Gregory C. Henkel is a 23 -year resident of Hawai'i. He is an artist and a manufacturer, and he is presently employed by Connections PCS as an instructor. Mr. Henkel is a member of the Black Sands Beach POA and the Puna Canoe Club. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2012. Council District 8 — Byron K. Moku is a 9 -year resident of Hawai'i. Since 2001, he has been employed by 1250 Oceanside Partners as their Cultural Resource Manager. Mr. Moku is a member of the Hawai'i Island YMCA, The Neighborhood Place of Kona, LaTopua 2020 and the Kailua Village Business Improvement District. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2014. Council District 9 — Toby Taniguchi is a lifelong resident of Hawai'i. He is the Executive Vice President of Operations for KTA Superstores. Mr. Taniguchi is a board member of the Hawai'i Island United Way, The Boys and Girls Club, the Girl Scout Council of Hawaii, the Hawai'i Japan Center and the Hawai'i Island Food Basket. He states that he is not affiliated with any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to expire on December 31, 2014.
