SUBJECT: TRAFFIC CODE AMENDMENT:
SECTION 24 -190: PICKING UP OR DISCHARGING PASSENGER'S
We request the Hawai'i County Code, Chapter 24, Article 8, Division 1 (Parking
Regulations), Section 24 -190 (Picking up or discharging passengers), paragraph (a),
subparagraph (3) be amended by revising item:
(3) EXCEPT FOR ON DEPARTURES TO CROSSWALKS ON ONE -WAY
STREETS, wWithin thirty feet of a crosswalk or within a distance up to seventy -
five feet of a crosswalk when appropriate signs or markings are installed.
Pertaining to crosswalks on one -way streets, adequate line of sight between driver
and pedestrian is primarily applicable on the crosswalk approaches. This amendment
will maintain the no parking requirements where applicable, while allowing for
additional parking on the departures to crosswalks on one -ways streets.
