Subject: Amendments to Chapter 27 Flood Management Ordinance y
Members of the Hawaii County Council:
I would like to inform you that I support the proposed changes to Chapter 27 and recomend that the council take
immediate action to approve.
I have been asked by several people to try and resolve a situation where they wanted to do site improvements
just off the flood plain boundaries, but were told by the county that they must have a Conditional Letter of Map
Revision (CLOMR) submitted to FEMA for approval. Elimination of the buffer zone is a good thing for progressive
administration of Chapter 27.
I am a civil engineer and doing civil consulting work and commend the council for taking action on this matter.
