Mahalo for considering this resolution.
Declining fish populations threaten everything that Hawaii is: its culture; its
traditional way of life; and its economy.
- The beautiful ocean and its creatures are fundamental to Hawaiian culture.
- Generations of Hawaiians have fished to feed their families. If the fishes are lying
dead in the trash after a few weeks in an aquarium, who can fish for them?
- The visitors will write us off if the notion gets out that other places have more to see
under the water. There are lots of nice golf courses out there. The aquarium traders in
Hawaii represent a handful of jobs compared to the visitor industry.
Please pass this legislation.
