Your Committee on Finance, to which was referred Resolution No. 219-00, reports as follows:
Resolution No. 219-00, transmitted by Finance Director Harry Takahashi, via Communication
No. 675, dated February 24, 2000, deletes Position No. 28 ] 6, Mason Temporary, and creates an
Equipment Operator Instructor Temporary position.
The Department of Public Works is in need to train employees on safe methods of operating
power tools as well as types of motorized equipment. With the new position, the Public Works
Department will be more efficient during emergencies.
Resolution No. 219-00 further states that funds are not required.
Pursuant to Article V, Section 5-1.3(c), Hawaii County Charter, the Mayor has the power to
create positions for which appropriations have been made by the Council.
An amendment was made to Resolution No. 219-00, which added diacritical marks to the
word Hawaii.
Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 219-00,
as amended to Draft 2, and recommends its adoption.
