The current 8 member board of the Hawaiian Acres ro&I Corporation has
unanimously approved the continuation of Hawaii County maintenance and
upkeep of the road that connects South Kulani Road with Road 1 in
Hawaiian Acres.
The county paved one lane of this road after Hawaiian Acres paved Road 1.
Later, it expanded the road to two lanes but did not finish the job as a small
portion was left with a thin minimal paving. They also would mow the sides
of the road to the bend and do pot hole repair.
As the Hawaiian Acres Community Association and the Hawaiian Acres
Road Corporation has had mandatory road fees disallowed twice in court
cases, we have to maintain over 72 miles of roadway with only voluntary
donations. This year, with 1,100 dues paying members, we had
approximately $65,000 to accomplish this endeavor.
