RE: Kamakana Villages at Keahuolu
President Resolution 405
Mike Gleason
President -Elect My name is Jon Miyata and I am the President -elect of the Hawaii Island
Jon Miyata Chamber of Commerce, whose membership includes over 300 businesses,
Vice President representing over 700 individual members. We are here once again in support
Vaughn Cook of the Kamakana Villages at Keahuolu Project.
Treasurer Forest City and the Housing Finance and Development Corporation have
Charles Erskine
worked hard to see this project reach fruition and provide West Hawaii with the
Past President much needed affordable homes inventory. They have worked hard to reduce
Mary Begier the amount of 201H exemptions, which primarily relate to meeting LEED
Directors Neighborhood Development, SmartCode principles, and/or Kona CDP
Howard Ainsley guidelines.
Mitchell Dodo
Charles Esrkine By your supporting this request, you will allow Forest City to fill a void in the
Stan Fortuna Jr. West Hawaii affordable housing market and provide jobs to the hundreds of
Judith Fox - Goldstein construction workers who are now out of work. The economic benefits of this
Jay Ignacio project will also greatly benefit many of our member businesses and the
Ka'iu Kimura surrounding community who are still struggling during this economic
Karina Leasure downturn.
Marco Mangelsdorf W urge this Council to vote in support of Resolution 405. Let's get this
Keith Marrack
Eugene Nishimura affordable mixed -use development going.
